Log Scaling

Log scaling is determining the gross & net volume of a log. I can provide a range of scaling intensities, from simple ocular estimates to 100% inventories of all log resources. I'm set-up with a full range of equipment and software to provide clients with the maximum efficiency of electronic data handling.

Besides determining the net volume of logs, I can also determine the grade and export sort of logs and mark buck cuts on long logs to improve the grade or sort. Logs are scaled and graded as presented to the scaler. To obtain the most accurate results, logs should be rolled away from other logs to allow the scaler/grader the opportunity to examine at least three faces of the log.

For clients interested in securing quantities of logs, I can advise on markets and function as a log buyer or act as a third party to offer statistically-backed quality control.

My charge for scaling or log purchase services is $60 per hour, plus reasonable travel expenses.
